General
In compliance with circular No. 6 Series 1866 from Head Quarters Assistant Commissioner State of Virginia, I have the honor to make the following report on the condition of Bureau affairs in the County of Pittsylvania 2nd 7th Sub Dist. of Va.

The ill feeling between the White & Colored people which has been kept at a fever heat by political Speeches which have been made throughout this Co. culminated with an open breach of the peace at this place Monday July the 20th (Court day) Several wer injured as you will see by my report to the S.A. Commr, dated July 20th  Their is a great deal of excitement throughout the County in regard to the affray  threats of another collision between the Freedmen & Whites are freely made by both parties, a great many Freedmen report that they are driven off in violation of contract & they are also driven off for refusing to vote against the Constitution The Colored Schools are all closed in this Co. for vacation everything else remains about the same as the month of June
