Captain: I have the honor to make the following report of Bureau Affairs, in the counties of Montgomery, Pulaski, Giles, Roanoke, Craig and Floyd (3rd & 4th Divisions, 8th Sub Dist, Va.) for the month of July 1868.

No special changes in the condition and circumstances of the Freedmen have taken place since my last report; all having been busily employed in their various occupations, gathering in the crops, and other field duties.

The Schools have almost all been discontinued for the Summer months, but are expected to resume their sessions, during the months of September and October. The School at Newbern, Pulaski County, after a vacation of one month, commenced its second session on July 15th, and although the attendance is not so large, as will be gathered later in the season. over
