Requests information touching the status of the Chesapeake Seminary property situated near Hampton Va. one part said to be owned by loyal owners represented by Gen'l Butler U.S.A. and another part by Rebels. Asks for names of proprietors.

Respectfully returned to Maj Gen'l O.O. Howard Com'r &c with the following report. The Chesapeake Seminary property was owned by a corporation and is divided into eight (8) shares which are now held by the following named persons. Charles A. Raymond for self and loyal owners four shares. MW Armstead one share, Thomas Horne one share, William Morris & Charles Gwathmey one share. William J. Wright one share. 
Of the four last named stockholders Horne has received his pardon. I have no knowledge of the political states of the remaining three.
