Gordonsville Va Dec 29th 1865
Respectfully returned to Col O Brown. Mr Allen is the man ordered to be tried by a Military Commission for shooting John Moore. It is not understood what is desired in the case. on the 18th I rec'd orders to have the Col'd people removed from this farm while it would seem by this paper that it is desired they should not be required to remove, at least for the present. I think that the interests of these persons may be safely intrusted [[entrusted]] to Lieut Murphy Asst Supt at Hanover C.H.

C.S. from the War Dept, the transportation in this Department, has been so reduced. that it is impossible to render any facilities to the Bureau in the way of transportation.
An application was made by me to the Qr Mr Gen'l for permission to retain sixteen Ambulances in the Dept,. and a copy of his answer is herewith enclosed. from which it appears that the Lieut Gen'l comd'g the armies of the United States refused to grant a similar application from the Med' Dir of the Dept of South Carolina, (1.
