Endorsement on letters of Edwin Ford dated Phila Jan 12th  1866 (F. 75) requesting transportation for himself wife & six children to Richmond Va. and letter dated Jan 20th 1866 (T. 75) returning letter of Gen Howard asking "under what circumstances he came north," and states that he left Richmond to avoid conscription.

Vols Asst Supt at Louisa C.H. left his Post without permission after receiving a copy of the telegram retaining all officers on duty in the Bureau, at their Post. Encloses a letter from the officer ordered to relieve Lieut. Painter - stating that no trace of office or office records can be found.
