Coke Lucy P.
Princess Anne Co
Sept 9, 1865

Applies for restoration of "Holland" farm. P.A. Co.

Office Asst Supt Freedmen
Princess Anne and Nansemond
Norfolk Sept 11, 1865

Respectfully forwarded to Capt. A.S. Flagg A.Q.M. Supt &c This Farm is distant and isolated and not since 1864 used as a home for freedmen, is now cultivated on shares and house and outbuildings required by tenant until crop is removed.
Mrs Coke technically "abandoned" the property, though she obtained permission from U.S. authorities to go within the rebel lines with her family for the purpose of rejoining her husband, she then being in destitute circumstances.

Bureau R.F. and A. Lands
Office Supt. 1st Dist of Va.
Norfolk Sept. 19 1865

Respectfully returned to Mr Jackson, Asst. Supt. The certificate of the clerk of court does not prove conclusively that the property of Mrs Coke in 1860 was not worth $20,000 x/100 it simply shows that this piece of land was not of that value. There should also accompany the application proof that no libels have been issued against the property.
