Norfolk Va Aug 9th 1865

Lieut Keatley Ag't of Bureau of Freedmen &c

Sir. I hereby respectfully apply for the restoration of the dwelling house at the corner of Queen and Amelia Sts in this city now in possession of the Bureau. I have taken the Amnesty Oath prescribed by President Johnson's proclamation of May 29th 1865 and do not come under any of the exceptions in said proclamation. The property has never been libelled for confiscation, it is left to me during my life-time. I therefore respectfully request that investigation be made and the property restored to me.

I remain Sir Your Ob't Serv't
Chas. W. Constable
