In the name of God Amen I William Dey of the City of Norfolk in the State of Virginia being in feeble health, but of a sound mind and having in view an approaching day of dissolution I do make and ordain this my last will and Testament that is to say I will and direct that my Executors, hereinafter named shall as soon as may be after my decease proceed to pay off all my debts of every kind and for this purpose I appropriate all moneys, notes accounts that I may have at my decease, also all shares & interest I may own in joint stock companies such as Exchange Bank Stock. Stock in the Washington and American Insurance companies, in the Merchants and Mechanics Saving Bank and in the Steamer Sea Bird excepting fifty shares in the Exchange Bank to be hereafter disposed of, also for the same purpose of paying my debts I direct my executors, to sell privately or publicly as they may deem best within two years after my decease the following houses and lots in Norfolk, or so many of them as my be necessary to pay off all my debts aforesaid, one Brick house and lot on Waters Street near the market house, house and lot on North Church above town bridge, all of the lots on Cumberland Street. North Street and Liberty Street, bought from Lewis Salusbury, all the lots and the houses on Queen Street and Cumberland bought from Wm Brock and house and lot on Cumberland Street adjoining the one recently sold to James S. Gaskins or so many of them, proceeding as they are named as may be sufficient for the purposes aforesaid. But in case all of the property now appropriated for that object should be insufficient for the said purposes
