This day personally appeared before me Thos W Roches and Thomas Bowed who made oath that James Dye had before the war purchased three lots in the Town of Hampton, adjoining the lots of Miss Roach and Richardson, and that he did not receive any deed for the same by reason of the war, and they moreover made oath that said property now belongs to the estate of the said James dye Given under my hand this 5 day of Jany 1866. given under mine hand E J Richardson JP I Wm S. Howard Clerk of the County Court of Elizabeth City County do certify that Mr. Jas Dye dec. purchased the lost above
