accruing thereon to the Commissioners of the Free School near Sycamore Hill meeting house in the sixth district of Norfolk County, or if said School shall at any time be discontinued, then I desire him to use the money in such manners as shall most effectually aid in maintaining a school for the benefit of this neighborhood, I hereby provide that if my heirs or distributes or either of them shall attempt to set aside their bequest as illegal, or if any other legal impediment shall ensue then I do hereby give and bequeath in absolute fee the aforesaid sum to the aforesaid James Carney.  -Ninth- I give and bequeath unto my friend the Rev. Thomas Hume, the sum of one thousand and five hundred dollars which I wish him to invest in some safe manner and to pay annually the interest thereon to the Baptist Church, on Court Street in the town of Portsmouth and which I wish to be regarded as the contribution of the indigent or poor members of the Church for the support of the Pastor, or for such other purposes as the Church may see fit to appropriate it, I hereby provide that if my heirs or distributes or either of them shall attempt to set aside this bequest as illegal or if any other legal impediment shall ensue, then I do hereby give and bequeath in absolute fee, the aforesaid sum to the aforesaid Thomas Hume.  -Tenth- I give and bequeath unto my friend Joel M. Tart the sum of five hundred dollars which I wish him to invest in some manner and pay annually the interest thereon to the Mulberry Baptist Church near the Western Branch in Norfolk County and which I wish to be regarded as a contribution similar to those above stated. I hereby provide that if my heirs or distributes or either of them shall attempt to set aside this bequest as illegal or if any other legal impediment shall ensue, then I do hereby give and bequeath in absolute fee the aforesaid sum to the aforesaid Joel M. Tart   Eleventh- I give and bequeath unto my friend the Rev Thomas Hume the sum of one thousand dollars which I wish him to invest in some manner the interest on which I desire to be paid over annually to a Baptist Church which is to be established in that part of Portsmouth called Newtown and which I wish to appropriate to the support of the Pastor or for such other purposes as the Church shall determine, I hereby provide that is my heirs or distributes or either of them shall attempt to set this bequest as illegal, or if any other legal impediment shall ensue, then I do hereby give and bequeath in absolute fee the aforesaid sum of one thousand dollars to the aforesaid Thomas Hume.  -Twelfth-  I give and bequeath unto the Rev Thomas Hume in trust, the sum of two hundred dollars for each of the children by his present wife, of Mr John Hall the Nephew of my beloved wife, to be paid to each child when arrived at the age of twenty one without any interest accruing thereon.   Thirteenth- I give and bequeath unto the Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of Richmond College in or near Richmond, Virginia, the sum of three hundred dollars
