To Capt A.S. Flagg Superintendent of the Freedmans Bureau:

The petition of Richard W Jeffrey respectfully represents that Mrs. Ann Jeffrey departed this life on the __ day of __ in the year 1861 seized and [[?]] of a certain house and lot No 29 situated on the East side of Catherine Street in the City of Norfolk. That said real estate descended by operation of law to your petitioner and Aaron Jeffrey as the children are heirs at law of the said Ann Jeffrey. That the said Aaron Jeffrey departed this life on the __ day of __ in the year 1865 leaving surviving him his widow Roberta Jeffrey and the following children all of whom are [[?]] to wit. Anne W. Jeffrey Ro. A. Jeffrey, Fanny W. Jeffrey, Mary E. Jeffrey, Richard W. Jeffrey, Roberta A. Jeffrey and Aaron Jeffrey. That the interest of the said Aaron Jeffrey in the said house and lot was libeled for confiscation in the United States District County District of Virginia and upon the suggestion of the death of the said Aaron Jeffery it was ordered by the said court that the said libel and all the proceedings therein be dismissed without costs, as will more fully appear by the certificate of the Clerks of the said Court herewith filed marked "A" your petitioner further represents that
