No proceedings in confiscation or for taxes have ever been commenced against said farm.

This day Francis H. Lee personally appeared before me Bolivar Sheild Clerk of York County State aforesaid & made oath that the facts set forth in the foregoing application are true. Given under my hand. this 30th day of November 1865

I, Bolivar Sheild Clerk of the County at York in the state of Virginia, do hereby certify that the farm lying in York County about four and half miles above York Town, containing one hundred and seventy two acres, now in the occupancy of Francis H. Lee, is as appears from the Records of the said county of the Estate of William Lee dec'd Father of the said Francis H. Lee, it also appears from the Records that this said William Lee dec'd died without a last Will & Testament, but left three children his lawful heirs, to wit Francis H. Lee, Wm. W.  Lee
