all men that I, Charles H. Rhodes of Brunswick Cty in the State of Virginia have appointed & do hereby appoint Charles S. Stringfellow of Petersburg Va. my true & lawful attorney for me & in my name, place stead to sue for demand of, ask for & require from the Freedmen's Bureau, all of my real & personal property lying & being in the State of Virginia, which now is or hereafter may be in the possession or under control of said Bureau or any of its officers in said State of Virginia and in my name stead to receipt for the same & to sign any releases, agreement or covenant which may be necessary to recover & secure said property & to do any & all acts that many be required in this behalf hereby satisfying and confirming the acts of my said agents as fully as if I myself were personally present and did the same - Witness my hands and seal affixed hereto at Lyndon in the State of Vermont this 15th day of November A.D. 1865.
