Colonel:
One is about the 27th August last, I made an application in writing on behalf of myself, my brother Wm. Robertson and my visitors, for the restoration of a house and lot No. 87 and 89 E. Main Street, Norfolk Va., which had been taken possession of by your Bureau, as belonging to me.— The application was forwarded by C.E. Johnston esq. asst. Capt. Norfolk Va., and I had hoped that # it will have been favorably added on, and that I will find the papers in Norfolk. I went there for the purpose last week, and found that the papers had not been returned.— I am informed that they are still in quarters office. I intended to [[strikethrough]] call upon [[/strikethrough]] in returning through Richmond see you in person in the subject: but (the steamboat being delayed in her arrival) I found your office closed, and (being a lady under my charge who was obliged to leave town next morning) I was
