Colonel:
One is about the 27th August last, I made an application in writing on behalf of myself, my brother Wm. Robertson and my visitors, for the restoration of a house and lot No. 87 and 89 E. Main Street, Norfolk Va., which had been taken possession of by your Bureau, as belonging to me.β€” The application was forwarded by C.E. Johnston esq. asst. Capt. Norfolk Va., and I had hoped that # it will have been favorably added on, and that I will find the papers in Norfolk. I went there for the purpose last week, and found that the papers had not been returned.β€” I am informed that they are still in quarters office. I intended to [[strikethrough]] call upon [[/strikethrough]] in returning through Richmond see you in person in the subject: but (the steamboat being delayed in her arrival) I found your office closed, and (being a lady under my charge who was obliged to leave town next morning) I was
