&c. &c. &c.

Sir,
I had the honor to present to you a few days ago, an application for the restoration of my land in York County, which application was endorsed by General Ludlow, in command here.
Considering it advisable to go in person to Washington to present the application to Gen. Howard, I request the favor of you to permit me to have the original paper, with Gen. Ludlow's remarks thereupon, from your office -
Will you therefore be kind enough to deliver the papers to T. Sweeney Esq. who will hand you this letter.
I am very respectfully
Your obedt. servt.
