064 Norfolk Virginia Aug. 28. 1865 Thomas P. Jackson Asst. Supt. Freedman's Bureau Princess Anne & Nansemond & Fort James Sir. I respectfully ask the restoration to me of my farm known as the "White House Farm" in Norfolk County. I entered the rebel army in March 1862 and remained until the Surrender of Genl. R.E. Lee - I was a Private - I have taken the Amnesty Oath I never occupied the farm, having purchased it in 1860 on a speculation. My family removed to Pasquotank Co N.C. in 1861 where they have since resided - Very respectfully Your obt. Svt William S. Temple
