years of age, that at the Time of the advance of the Federal army on the Peninsula, his house and residence were situated exactly in range between the guns of the batteries of the two contending armies, that his houses were burned by the order of the Confederate officer commanding the post, that it was absolutely necessary, to save the lives of himself and family that the said H.H. Wynne should leave his farm and retire further within the Confederate lines.

I believe Mr H.H. Wynne to a be a loyal citizen of the United States and desirous to continue so.
