You will direct the Asst Supt to see Mr Kenningham and learn from him whether he will undertake to educate the boy "Eli" to the extent called for in the within blank indenture.

Respty returned to Bvt Brig Genl. O. Brown Asst Comm with the information that a portion of this property is used for an Orphan Asylum and a school for indigent Freedmen. That portion not used for this purpose can be dispensed with. 
A large number of colored children are constantly being sent to the asylum many of whom are sick when received and have to be cured up. when they are sent north where homes are procured for them. These buildings being isolated from the city in a healthy location are better adapted to the purposes for which they are

used than any others that could be procured and in obedience to instructions from the Chief Medical Officer State of Va. a garden has been established and is now in operation.  - Under these circumstances I respectfully request that this property be not given up for the present.

The Law provides that company cooks shall get only ten dollars per month. the within named man was mustered as company cook in regular form. and of course can draw no more than the above amount - If he did not get ten dollars per month in money and clothing his claim for that would be good.
