It appears that Peter Henly cold had taken a woman who had some children previous to his knowing her, and the boy now called Preston Henly is not his son, but from statements of Henly's wife, is the son of another man, who I am informed on some authority is still living in this county. Henly's wife was formerly a servant of Dr. Horace Tally of whom 63 she speaks will of and when she left him this boy Preston and another boy on some pretext or arrangement was left with Horace Tally, who liking the boy and knowing the circumstances wished to keep him until he was older, but after a time Henly saw Capt Bunker and made his statement, upon which the Capt sent an order by Henly to Tally to immediately give up the boy whereupon Tally also saw Capt Bunker and informed him of the above facts. and was told by the Capt that under the circumstances he would bind both boys to him if he (Tally) would take care and do justice by them. and made arranements to that effect. The boy seems well satisfied with his home and is treated kindly Sg'd E.G. Budd Lt & Asst Supt [[left margin]] Henly Preston Cold Tally, Dr. H.
