The woodland mentioned within is not needed for the use of the Bureau RF & AL.
It is property spoken of in a letter to Maj Gen O. O. Howard written by Col Rush. I would recommend that it be restored. But the house and lot in Eastville will be required, it being used as an office and no other building could be obtained for that purpose, the Freedmens Hosp'l is also located on this tract.

Respectfully returned to Brevet Brig General C.H. Howard Walker White states that he was never married to Retta, that she having contracted new alliances he will not consent to live with her. He also states that he has repeatedly written for her and that receiving no reply went for her, but she refused to come with him.

He expresses a desire to have the children and states that he will provide means to bring them away and that he will provide for them after reaching this place.
