Office Supt RF & AS
1st Dist of Virginia
Norfolk June 7th/66

Respectfully returned to the Asst Commissioner with the information that the steam Saw Mill was taken up as property of the Negro Dept last May It was purchased with the funds of the Negro Dept. is a small mill of fifteen horse power and does not pay expenses to run it.
The wood was cut from farms on our papers last winter and spring for offices and for distribution to indigent freedmen but as the county now takes care of these persons. we can dispose of fifty (50) cords and still have enough left to supply the office for the balance of the year. The Carry logs and old Piano were taken up as found at the Post.
There does not seem to be any one to claim either of these pieces of property and might bring a small sum if sold.
