Munisville Fauquier County
March 29th 1866
Lieut. MacNulty
Dear Sir yours of the 28th just has been received, and in reply I am to say that the present board of overseers of this poor for this county have had but one meeting & that rather informal, at which they merely organized & requested the present superintendant to remain at the poor house for the remainder of this year, We have as yet recent no instructions in regard to the support of the destitute neither are there any funds at our disposal for that purpose.

In regard to your first inquiry I can only state that it was formerly the custom of the overseers to provide for the destitute of all colours either at the poor house or at their homes, which custom I presume will again be adopted which we have means for so doing

Our custom heretofore has been to meet on the 1st Saturday in May in each year to reckon up all outstanding debts due to the 31st March for the year preceeding and to make requisition for supplies for the poorhouse for ensuing year
