In Louisa County Court April Term 1866

The President of the Board of Overseers of the Poor for this county laid before the court a letter addressed to him by T. Frank P Crandon Captain and A.Q.M. and Supt. 4th District of Va. Bureau F &c dated March 26th 1866. Proposing certain questions and requesting replies to them, and as the court provides the means of supporting its poor, the President of the Board of Overseers of the Poor could not respond to the enquires satisfactorily and therefore the court responds to the first interrogatory "Will your Board undertake to provide for the maintenance or assistance of destitute colored persons having a settlement in your county in the same manner as destitute white persons are provided for." That it will provide for the support of poor colored persons settled in this county in the same manner as destitute white persons are provided for, as soon as money can be collected for that object by levy which will probably be raised by; or probably a short time before the end of this year: To the second interrogatory. "What will be the extent need character of such maintenance or assistance" The court answers. It will be such as has been afforded to poor white persons supported by the county: To the third interrogatory. "In what manner will the relief be afforded"
