last month, that came before the civil authorities, and as to one of them, there is no doubt of his guilt.  The other one, there is, for there has nothing been proved against him.  But it has been proven by four of his witnesses (Colored) that he was at home all the night on which the theft was committed.  Notwithstanding he was committed by the Magistrate to jail for trial, by record court.  There is no doubt, but what the colored people receive justice in the higher courts.  But in magisterial courts there is,  The prejudice that exists against the Freedmen is the same against a magistrate that will give a case in their favor.
