Bureau R. F. and A Lands, Office Asst Supt. Sub District of Essex. King & Queen & Middlesex Cos. Tappahannock, Va. Aug 29, 1866 Wentworth, Watson R. Lieut. and Asst. Supt &c Reports in compliance with Circular No 10, there has been two Freedmen tried in his Sub Dist. since his last report, for stealing sheep and hog's. They rec'd a very fair trial, and were convicted - sentenced to one day's imprisonment and to receive (39) thirty nine lashes - which were given them.
