Dear Sir:
Harkless Harris a freedman, has just came to me and informs me that he was run out of your County by his former employer, in consequence of a suit which he brought against him through you. He says this man and some others were after him to kill, and he is afraid to go back there after his family. I presume this story is somewhat exagerated, but there seems to be some foundation for his apprehensions.

I do not know what to advise him to do in the matter further than to apply to you. Please write me and let me know the state of his affairs over there, and if there is any thing coming to him. I will simply add that this boy bears a good character here
