by which judgment was given for $50.00 in favor of one white man against another, in consequence of the latter having beaten one of the Negroes of the former, while a Slave.

I am cognizant of but one case which has been elasewhere adjudged during the month, viz: that of "Lewis Houseman (colored) vs. "Pharaby Law"- white- by Mr "George Fenny", J.P. This was an action for a debt of $50.00, claimed for labor performed. Judgment was rendered for $29.05, and 50 for costs. From this an appeal was taken to the County Court, and the case will come up in June. I have several times before made mention of the connection between Houseman and Mrs Law.

There has been no colored person apprehended, on any charge, during the month.

I am, General, Very Respectfully
Your Obt. Sevt.
