I have the honor to report in compliance with "Circular No 10 dated Hd. Qrs. Asst. Comr. State of Va. Richmond Va. March 12th 1866. But one case in which Freedmen were a party has been tried in the Civil Courts of Madison and Greene counties Va. during the month of July 1867

Wesley Slaughter (Freedman) was tried for larceny of a hog. He plead "guilty" at the July term of the County Court of Madison County and was sentenced to Twenty days confinement in the County Jail
