I have the honor to report through Hd. Qrs. 6th Sub. Dist. the following in compliance with Circular No. 10, dated Hd. Qrs. Asst. Com'r, Richmond Va. March 12. 1866.

Several Freedmen have been tried by the Civil Authorities in this Division since my last report, I cannot see but what the trials were conducted with impartiality, with the exception of one case brought before a Justice of the Peace; it was that of a Freedman for stealing a hog valued at $10.00 the Justice sent him to jail for Felony not allowing him bail when it was a Misdemeanor instead of Felony. I told the Constable to take the prisoner back to the Justice, he then admitted him to bail in the sum of $250.00 which was another
