satisfactorily settled. Also reports the cases of King. Halery, "Freedman" released from Jail, Joseph Pratt, charged with murder cannot be found, Walter. R. Preston, charged with whipping two Children of a colored man, awaiting instructions.

In the 4th Sub. Division Brevt Capt H. L. Hunt, A.S.A.C. Reports but few cases before the Courts in which Freedmen have been interested and in those cases no injustice has been done. He reports one case of assault upon a Freedman in which the Grand Jury refused to indict the party making the assault thereby doing the Freedman an injustice. He will act upon the case as Military Commissioner.
