In compliance with Cir No. 10. reports but one case of a criminal nature tried in the present month - Charles Walker. colored. charged with the murder of York Howard. colored. in Octo 1867. was tried and acquitted. From the within report it appears that the acquittal of Walker is considered as against Law, and the peace of society, the language used upon the trial to be a bid for the votes of the colored people in behalf of the Conservative Party.
