I have the honor to report in compliance with Circular No 10 Hd. Qrs. Asst. Com. Dist. of Va. that there has been but one case of criminal trials in this Division during the present month. and to this case I desire to call your special attention and would earnestly recommend that it be made the subject of Military investigation.
The case is as follows-
Sometime in the month of October 1867. Charles Walker -Freedman- was arrested by the Civil Authorities, charged with the murder of York Howard -Freedman - at Port Royal. The trial was concluded at the
