Statement of Phillip Pendleton
I was standing on the Warf at Port Royal in about one week after Charles Walker was acqutted of the chare [[charge]] of the murder of York Howard when sd Charles Walker approached me and said now give in your evidence against me I asked him what he meant but he made no reply only to repeat what he said before having heard that he was a dangerous man I was afraid he would shoot me and turned and walked away from him he followed me and approached the second time taking off his Coat said to me I will whip any damed Nigger on the ground I have killed one and
