I have the honor in compliance with Circular NO 10 Series of 1866 Hd Qrs Asst Comr State of Va to report the following cases of injustice.
The Comwlth V Henry Williams charge malicious stabbing. The evidence went to show that a corn shucking was held at the place he was employed. Several negroes had been drinking pretty freely and while at the table Henry Williams said he had had no pie. Mintor a colored man (the one that received the wound) then once on the table Williams then left the room and as he went out Mintor kicked him. he was then set upon by three or four others who knocked him down and cut his head badly. it was during this trouble that Mintor got a slight cut in his hand. The jury brought in a verdict of guilty
