A motion to set the verdict aside, on the ground that it was exhorbitant and rendered on account of prejudice, prevailed, and a new trial will be had.

Thus it will be seen that when a colored woman complains against a white man for an assault upon a child, and entering the premises of the woman to commit that assault, the case is dismissed and the white man allowed to go clear; while in the latter case of Jackson (white) complaining of a similar assault, (without the aggravation of entering a dwelling), against Emmanuel White, (colored) a verdict in favor of the white man is given by a Jury for $75.00

Truly "Justice is blind"-
