man. Snead then grabed up a hatchet and threw it at him hitting him and Cash fell off the boat into the water his head resting on a sand bar. Payne and Gardner went immediately and took him up and he was dead. The next morning blood was on the plank on which the body was lying which come from a wound just back of his ear. I would respectfully request that Snead be arrested and tried for the murder of Jacob Cash. The witnesses are Minerva Nicholas who lives at the City Hotel Lynchburg. Henry Payne and Peter Gardner they both live in Amherst Co on Richard Harrisons farm near Waughs Ferry 18 miles from Lynchburg. The above witnesses were before the Grand Jury last Monday and testified to the above facts and they refused to find a true bill against said Snead
