Why do these men claim additional bounty when no evidence appears of their receiving any original bounty & as they are not entitled to the original bounty they certainly are not entitled to the additional bounty.

There would seem no legal impropriety in this levy as the Civil Authorities have acted in accordance with the law of the State. The matter some weeks ago was submitted by this office to a good lawyer who decided that the Sub-letting did not remove liability for rent from crop raised.
