house. He wanted $10 and promised to pay it or let Tom have $10.00 worth of clothes. Tom handed him $10 over the palings. I know it was $10.00 because I saw the bill and knew it was ten dollars.

Defense
The Plea of the Defendant was that he never borrowed the ten dollars.
James Smith Sworn (colored)

Live in Wmsburg. Know [[strikethrough]] James Smith. [[/strikethrough]] Thomas Gibbons been borrowed ten dollars of him. Dont owe him anything. The witness here talked a good deal about altogether irrelevant matters, but gave no other evidence touching the question; and the case closed.

The Decision was that James Smith did borrow $10.00 of Thomas Gibbons as stated by Gibbons and that Smith should pay Gibbons the same sum within 30 days of this decision.
