Weekly report of cases tried before the Freedmen Court Matthews Co. Va. for the week ending March 1st 1866

Court met Mar 6th (agreeable to previous adjournment) for the further trial of cases that might come before it.

Case 1st - Elizabeth Johnson & Elan White (Co'd) vs. John Armstead
Claim for wages for past years services, only paid in part. Court decided that def. should pay said Elizabeth the sum of twenty-four dollars in addition to that already paid and to Elan White the sum of twenty dollars

Case 2nd Henry Dixon (Co'd) vs. Mrs. Fanny Ray
claim for wages for services rendered the past year. Claim not sustained. The court decided in consideration of the advanced age and disability of the plaintiff that the food and clothes he had received were a sufficient remuneration for services rendered.

There being no further evidence, the Court adjourned to meet again March 10th/66

Case 1st Emily Thompkins (Co'd) vs. Richard Stewart
Claim for articles of clothing due plaintiff on contract of last year. Court gave judgement in favor of Miss Emily in the sum of three dollars.

Case 2nd July Thomas (Co'd) vs. John M. Thomas
Claim for services rendered last year. Claim not sustained the Court decided that for the following reason she was not
