Richard Wilkinson (Col) being duly sworn deposeth as
follows. heard that corn was stolen from Ruffins mill
saw corn spilled all along the road. Met Jibbs
on Friday morning, and told him what he had heard
also told him of the corn tracks. do not know anything
further. 
There being no further testimony the court unanimously
decided the prisoner to be Not Guilty, and
he was therefore discharged.

Betsy Hughes (Col) Vs. Robert Sovett (Col)

Charge............... Shooting a duck.

Betsy Hughes (Col) Plaintiff being duly sworn deposeth
as follows. Robert Sovert shot a duck belonging to
her and on her complaining to him of it, he beat
her with a ramrod of a gun. 
Rosa. Washington (Col) being duly sworn deposeth as
follows. lives at Newtown was passing the house of
Betsy Hughes when she saw Robert Sovet going into
his corn. soon after heard a gun fired, and just
as she had reached her own lot saw Betsy Hughes
take something out of the pond which she believed to
be a duck and went to Sovett. then saw her and
Sovett have a scuffle and saw Sovett strike Hughes
with a ramrod. Betsy then ran to the fence an broke 
off a slab, which she struck Sovett twice with.
