William F. Wilkins (white) vs Edward Billips (col'd)
Charge Debt

W.F. Wilkins (white) being duly sworn deposeth as follows.
On the 17th of last February, I bought a horse from Edward Billips for forty nine (49) dollars which amount I paid in cash and took the horse home with me. a few days afterwards he (Billips) came to my house, and wanted to get his horse back as his wife was not satisfied with him for selling the horse. I consented to his request, asking the privilege of retaining the horse in my possession until he (Billips) either brought me another horse or else returned the money I paid him. a few days afterward the horse died in my possession but I considered the horse belonging to Billips, and asked that the money I paid him for the horse be refunded.
