James Costelow (col'd) vs. V. Baker (white)

Charge Shooting a pig

James Costelow (col'd) states that on Saturday April 13th 1867 V. Baker shot a pig belonging to him and asks that damages be allowed him.

V. Baker states that he found the pig, the property of plaintiff trespassing on his lot, and damaging his property, and having told the plaintiff several times, that if he did not keep his pigs off his lot, he would shoot them, admits shooting the pig and is willing to pay a fair price for it, but will enter a case for damages against plaintiff at the next session of court.

The Court after mature deliberation decided to reserve their decision until the value of the pig was proven by competent witnesses
