Harriet Smith (cold) states that her husband treated her shamefully, that she was compelled to leave him, that she stood his abuse, as long as it was possible for her to do so, and is not willing to take up with him again as she knows he would again abuse her.

The Court after giving each of the parties good advice ordered them to live together as man and wife, should do and if either party abused the other the party so abused to make complaint to the court.

Thomas Carey (cold.) states that his wife has left his house and has taken most of his things with her and threatened that if she was forced to live with him she would kill him when asleep by pouring melted lead in his ear, and is now afraid to live with her.

Nancy Carey states that there is no standing her husband that he seems full of the devil, abuses and annoys her every way he can think of. dont think they are suited for each other, and would rather separate.

The Court lectured them on the sacred relationship existing between man and wife, and ordered them to try and live amicably together.
