Sir:-
 
I would respectfully ask information relative to the following: so that I may be guided in the future.

Tom, a freedman, worked this year (1867), for Mr. James T. Parmenter, on his plantation 18 miles East of Macon, Miss: and complains that said Parmenter, will not in accordance with his agreement give him half (1/2/ of the Crop, but will keep all the crop and give Tom, nothing, (who, in my opinion, is a Christian old man,) this case was tried at Cooksville, Noxubee Co. on Saturday last the 4th inst. before a Justice of the Peace, named James Moore, and decided against Tom, the Plaintiff, Tom, further says that the Defendant brought men of
