Owing to absense from home yours of 23rd Ult. has just come to hand: Jesee Thompson, freedman, lived about one half mile from Webster and was engage as a blacksmith, his shop being in the Town of Webster. He left his shop about Twelve Oclock M. on the 17th Ult. to go to dinner, and was shot before he reached home about one hundred and fifty yards from his house; was first found by a man by the name of Blunt who lives in Neshoba County. I happened on that day to be at Webster on business, and as soon as I learned of the killing visited the place; had
