diligent search made as to tracts gun wading, and all other things that we could do to ascertain if possible who did the killing; The man that did the shooting was concealed behind a log about fifteen yards from the road, in a thick woods from that place he fired the first shot. He then, judgeing from that gun wading, approached the road within a few paces of the deceased and shot him again. The person who did the shooting had a No. Seven Shoe and I think from that circumstance was a White Man. I immediately sent for a Justice of the Peace and had an inquest held, and they made diligent search and enquiry but could find out nothing that led even to suspicion as to who was The Guilty One. The Man Blunt, a Man by the name of Livingston, and the family of deceased all heard the fireing of the guns but knew nothing further; the wife of the deceased was particular question as to having at anytime heard deceased express any fears
