Respectfully returned on the evening of the 12- inst (4) four Col'd men reported at this office with the enclosed paper. Their names were respectively Jordan Fox Andrea Jackson Jacob Dickinson and Peter Bird. By their own statement only one had been left entirely without corn and meat who had himself and wife to support and was able bodied.
The remaining three were young men of small families all having meal on hand and one of them meat. The first named I gave temporary relief. The other three I did not deem in immediate need. 
Attention is respectfully invited to the enclosed letter of Mr. Edward Vaughn. Sheriff of the county it being in reply to a letter addressed him upon the subject of the collection of Taxes and requesting information in this particular instance.
