Respectfully returned to Maj. Genl. Howard Comr. all of the Freedmen in the town of Staunton can find employment in the immediate vicinity. There is a large surplus of Freedmen at Fort Monroe and Norfolk. I would therefore recommend that the agent within named visit these places instead of Staunton

Hambert $157.00 the land was sold by the sheriff as ordered for $8.25/100 per acre House and lot for $270.00 - said sales were confirred in Nov/65 the money (some $50.00) remaining is in the hands of the sheriff subject to such claims as may be brought against the estate.
