Respectfully returned to Bvt. Brig Genl. O. Brown Asst Comr inviting attention to enclosed affidavit of Isham Fisher, as to the paternity of the boy Henry, there is an error in the within communication from this office. Isam (or Isham) being the father of Henry, and not of Beverly as stated being the latters uncle as stated in endorsement of Capt Norton. of Mar. 11 1867.- as the boy was bound without the fathers consent, it is respectfully recommended that the indenture be annulled. Fisher states that the boy Henry knows and recognizes him to be his father of which fact Mr Bennett is also cognizant. He wishes to get the boy principally for the purpose of educating him, as he is well to do and able to do so. He will furnish the money to pay his transportation here if required. Fisher does not pretend to have any legal claim on Beverly. but would give him the same advantages as Henry: if permitted to come to him. In regards to Betsy Homes her mother states that the matter of letting her remain with Mr Organ was discussed between them, but not consented to. The "part of the money" Mr Organ mentions as being paid was $1. and he promised at the time to bring the girl to see her mother, when the matter of letting her remain with him could be settled, which he has never done. The mother (Julia Holmes) now wishes to get the girl. Mr Organ stating he has no objections and certainly no claim upon her If there is not sufficient wages due Betsy to pay her transportation here. upon being informed of the fact the mother will forward the amount required.

Respectfully returned to Capt. James A. Bates Sub Asst Com'r with the information that I have carefully investigated the case of Mr Dunn, and am unable to find where the Common Council have taken any undue advantage of him. From an interview with Mr. Smith chairman of the Committee for the disposal of the stalls in The market, he informed me that Dunn was not the legal occupier of the stall and the council decided that the stall should be put up at auction. This was done, giving Dunn the opportunity of bidding for it. He was present. at the sale and bid $5.00 less than the party who obtained it.
