Transcription Notes:
It is fine to put headings in one line instead of block-style as it appears. (per instructions: “Our goal is to improve readability and searchability and we want to avoid cluttering the pages--don't worry about formatting.)
I DON'T AGREE.
THESE ARE LETTERS! IT MAKES IT HARDER FOR A PERSON TO FIND IT IF NOT IN THIS FORMAT. IT BREAKS IT UP INTO SENSIBLE SECTIONS. ISN'T RUN ALL TOGETHER.
----
Reopened because of a lot of Capital letters not being used. They are part of the title or rank, or organization name. Remember, "A" and "a" in cursive look THE SAME, except for size.
A title will have CAPITAL LETTERS FOR THEIR FIRST LETTER.
Act. Asst. Adjt. Genl.
Or A.Q.M.
You will see a space after the R in R F and A L. So put a space. That space is taken up by a period if one is used. This writer is just connecting the A and the L because it was easier to do that in Cursive writing. "A" and the "L" stand for "Abandoned Lands."
State abbreviations are capitalized for the first letter - Va.
